Culture

The Church of Saint-Avit is associated with the Via Lemovicensis and the Via Turonensis. The Abbey of Saint-Avit-Sénieur is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the Routes of Santiago de Compostela in France. Next to the abbey ruins stands the 11th-century Church of Saint-Avit. From the outside, it resembles a fortress and has very massive defensive towers. The presbytery of Saint-Avit-Sénieur regularly serves as an exhibition venue.

Trails

The Boucle des Pèlerins is an 18 km circular route starting in Saint-Avit-Sénieur. It can be walked, ridden on horseback or cycled by mountain bike and is classified as easy. The Boucle de Pont Roudier is a 10.8 km circular hiking route starting in Saint-Avit-Sénieur. The Chemin d’Avitus can also be explored on foot.

Events

From 1 July to 30 September, free guided tours of the village of Saint-Avit-Sénieur are offered on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. In July and August, a nocturnal food market is held every Tuesday evening in Saint-Avit.

La Ferme de Cor practises organic farming and processes the farm’s produce on site in its own laboratory. In July, August and September, La Ferme de Cor offers farm-gate sales on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, as well as farm-gate sales by appointment.

Surroundings

Nearby, the Chemin des deux abbayes leads from Saint-Avit to the bastide of Molières and the Abbey of Cadouin before reaching Le Buisson railway station. From there, a direct train takes you to Lalinde in fifteen minutes.
