Plazac: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The long-distance hiking trail GR 36 crosses the Plazac area over a distance of approximately ten kilometres or runs along its border.

Nature

The Côte de Jor is a sunny limestone slope on the right bank of the Vézère. To protect its flora, it is designated both as a Natura 2000 site and as a type I ZNIEFF. The Vimont, a small tributary of the Vézère, crosses the Plazac area from north to south. The marsh fritillary has been recorded in the municipality of Plazac; it is protected at national level.

The Sentier d’interprétation de Reilhac is an open-air museum and makes it possible to discover the biodiversity characteristic of this region.

Trails

The Boucle des Pleniers is a circular trail. The Boucle du moulin à vent leads from sunny plateaus down to Plazac via shady woodland paths.

History and culture

The church of Plazac forms a composite ensemble with a 24-metre-high main tower. The fortified ensemble of Plazac was organised for defence and withstood an attack by Archambaud VI, Count of Périgord, in 1397.

The forge of Plazac was founded around 1645 and cast cannons for the Royal Navy. The Croix du Bousquet bears an inscription with the year 1451.

The Jardin d'Esprit Médiéval in Plazac was created in 2003 and cultivates plants that were used in the Middle Ages for food, healthcare and domestic life.

Local life

The Fête du Village in Plazac takes place every year on the third weekend of June. Plazac's food market takes place on Fridays.
