History and culture

The historical details of Lembras include the Puits des Gironnets. The well is 32 metres deep and is topped by a small shelter with a pitched roof covered in tiles. It has a hand-turned wheel that operates a winch positioned outside the well shaft. The Puits des Gironnets was carefully restored in 2008.

In 1113, the present-day Tour Cyrano formed the bow of a fortress in Ribeyrie surrounded by three walls. Richard the Lionheart had the fortress demolished around 1198; the Tour Cyrano still stands at the crossroads of the roads to Queyssac and Greloux. The so-called “Roman bridge” of Lembras is a stone bridge over the Caudeau.

Wine

Château la Renaudie is an 18th-century château in Lembras. At Château la Renaudie, self-guided visits and guided tours by appointment are available. Château la Renaudie includes a contiguous 35-hectare vineyard, which accounts for 10% of the total AOC production of red Pécharmant wine.
