Culture and History
The Chapelle Notre Dame was built in the 13th century on the third arch of the Isle bridge. It was enlarged to accommodate numerous pilgrims and is listed in the inventory of historic monuments.
The choir and bell tower of the Église Saint-Martin are Romanesque. In the 17th century, a polychrome and gilded wooden altarpiece was installed there. The church was open to the public daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from April to October.
The Château de Glane retains a fortress-like appearance with four round towers equipped with loopholes. The façades, roofs and courtyard enclosure wall are partly listed as historic monuments.
The Château de La Cousse is a fortified structure in the northern Périgord with four projecting brattices, built instead of machicolations. The tower, the façades and roofs of the residential building, including the outside staircase, the entrance gate and the forecourt are partly listed as historic monuments.
Routes and Activities
The Tèrra-Aventura activity in Coulaures is free and accessible year-round. The Tèrra-Aventura route is 12 kilometres long and designed mainly for cycling or walking. Along the route, riddles lead participants to a final hidden cache.
The Boucle des châteaux is a 12.5-kilometre circular hike that starts in Coulaures. Its starting point is on the Chapelle square; from there, it heads towards the hamlet of La Reille.
The Boucle Sud Vallée de l'Isle et de la Loue is a 30-kilometre circular route that includes Coulaures and is officially approved by the Fédération Française de Randonnée.
