Culture and History

The Église Saint-Martin is an 11th-century Romanesque church and has been classified as a historic monument since 22 May 1900. Its distinctive bell tower was built a century later above a decorated pendentive dome. The church preserves 15th-century murals: a Crucifixion and a depiction of a mounted knight, which may represent the charity of Saint Martin.

The Château d’Agonac is the former Castrum Agoniacum, situated on a central hilltop above the Beauronne valley. In the 12th century, it was transformed into a proper castle with a substantial keep and walls 2.20 metres thick. Today, the Château d’Agonac is privately owned.

La ligne bleue is an interactive walking route with QR codes and five audio recordings. The five audio stations introduce the Église Saint-Martin, the Porte Salseyron, the Fontaine de Pisse-Chèvre, the Lavoir de Bezan and the Château d’Agonac.

Trails and Landscape

The signposted Boucle de Fontroubade is a 7.2-kilometre circular trail starting and ending at the Place de la Poste in Agonac; the walking time is approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. The Boucle de Fontroubade is a walking, mountain-biking and horse-riding route with cultural, historical and religious highlights. It follows the Beauronne and passes through a wooded area. One of the sights along the Boucle de Fontroubade in Agonac is the Moulin de Bordes. In the 1950s, it used its waterwheel to produce walnut oil and grind grain for the bakery.

The Les Rousselles–Agonac route is 12 kilometres long and can be completed on foot, by mountain bike or on horseback in approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.
