Culture and history

The Grotte de Lourdes was built in 1953 in the shadow of the Église Saint-Maurice. It was blessed on 15 August 1953 following Vespers and a procession. Another grotto on Mont des Oliviers had already been built in 1924.

Mont des Oliviers depicts a religious scene with Christ praying, three sleeping apostles and a winged angel holding a chalice. Since 1984, a painting of the Last Supper by Daniel Ortscheid, inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s work, has replaced the former 19th-century fresco there.

S'Kappalale is a small square sacred building with a four-sided roof and was renovated in 2005. The former small cross of S'Kappalale was stolen. It was flanked by ceramic statues of Saint John and the Virgin Mary, created by the artist Françoise Haas from Sierentz.
