The Wormsa Valley is a classified site and illustrates the effects of a Vosges glacier during the Quaternary period.

Those wishing to rent a holiday apartment can choose Metzeral as their destination.

Nature

The Wormsa Valley can be accessed from the hamlet of Steinabruck at the exit of Metzeral.

A path through the Wormsa Valley leads towards Mittlach and the Lac du Fischboedlé, located at an altitude of 794 metres.

Around 1850, the Lac du Fischboedlé was enlarged by the industrialist Jacques Hartmann from Münster to serve as a fish reserve.

Along the GR5, there is a view of the Wormspel corridor, which is rich in fauna and flora, including Turk's cap lilies and chamois.

The Lac du Schiessrothried lies at an altitude of 930 metres between the Spitzekoepfe and the foot of the Hohneck and covers 5.6 hectares.

Hiking

The centre of Metzeral is a starting point for numerous hikes to the mountain ridges.

One suggested route connects the Lac du Fischboedlé and the Lac du Schiessrothried, starting from the Wormsa; the walking time is approximately four hours.

Climbing

The Spitzkoepfe climbing site is reserved for experienced mountaineers.

The route to the Spitzkoepfe climbing site leads through Metzeral to the car park near the Chalets de la Wormsa, and then on foot via the Lac du Fischboedlé and the Lac du Schiessrothried. The walk takes one hour.

The natural Spitzkoepfe climbing site is unequipped, classified as adventure terrain and accessible only to a limited extent.
