Culture and History

The Church of Saint Martin is a late Gothic building with a tower portal projecting from the front, a paneled nave, and a polygonally enclosed choir with ribbed vaulting. The Catholic parish church of Saint Martin was begun in 1911; 1912 is also noted on the portal as a possible year of completion.

The former parish church of Saint Remi in Kirrwiller has been documented since 742 and became a Protestant church after the Reformation. It was rebuilt in 1780; its tower was subsequently reconstructed and was not completed until 1790.

Kirrwiller lies on an old road that connected Brumath and Bouxwiller and still preserves traces of this earlier past.

Walks and Circular Routes

The “Balade sonore – Découverte de Kirrwiller” begins at 15 Rue de Modern in Kirrwiller. The very easy, 2.1-kilometer walk takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, passes through the village streets, and introduces its history.

The “Circuit des deux collines” circular route passes the Heckberg and Hungerberg hills and offers panoramic views of the surrounding area.

Shows and Dining

The Royal Palace in Kirrwiller offers cabaret shows that are renewed annually and describes itself as one of the two largest music halls in France.

The Royal Palace includes two restaurants offering gourmet lunches and dinners with musical entertainment by musicians and singers.
