Stříbrnice: Chapel, Church and Nature Park

Stříbrnice is a place with two distinct storylines: sacred architectural history and the nature-rich and scientifically significant Stříbrnické paseky.

Culture

The Chapel of St. Procopius was built in 1749–1750 as a High Baroque chapel. Its bell, cast in Brno, dates from 1692 and is still in use today. The chapel was completely restored in 2009.

The Church of St. Procopius was consecrated on November 11, 1908. It is a Neo-Romanesque church; its portal is decorated with an image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus etched in glass. The main tower of the Church of St. Procopius is 33.30 meters high.

The two religious buildings can be viewed as separate cultural focal points during a walk. You can take in their architectural forms and historical references individually and then place them side by side. Those combining several interests can also view culture and nature as separate focal points. No fixed order is necessary; the individual topics can stand alongside one another.

Nature

The Stříbrnické paseky are an area of landscape and scientific importance and were declared a nature park in 1993. The character of the paseka settlement has been preserved in the Stříbrnické paseky to this day. The area is dry and benefits from warm conditions; layers of windblown loess and sand enable many warmth-loving plants and animals to thrive there.

The landscape can be organized on several levels by considering its local features: protected status, settlement character and natural history stand alongside one another. Those bringing together different interests can consider these levels individually and keep the rhythm of the day open. Nature does not have to be reduced to just one aspect.

Routes

From Stříbrnice, a walking and cycling excursion leads through the Stříbrnické paseky to the nearby recreation area of Smrďavka, which includes Lázně Leopoldov. The Velkomoravská poutní cesta cycling route also runs through the Stříbrnické paseky. This route is four kilometers long and follows the original pilgrimage route to Velehrad exactly.

You can compare the different types of routes, destinations and lengths separately when planning your day. This creates a clear structure without establishing a ranking among the options. When several interests come together, the excursion destination, route type and historical line can be treated as separate perspectives. No fixed order is required; the information can stand alongside one another and leave the rhythm of the day open.

The rock formation Čertovo sedlo is located in the forest of the Stříbrnické paseky. With this landscape feature too, you can let individual impressions stand on their own instead of arranging them in a fixed sequence.
