Střítež Nad Bečvou: Apartments and Holiday Homes

Střítež nad Bečvou lies in the valley of the Rožnovská Bečva on its left bank, at the foot of the slopes of the Vsetínské vrchy. Some of the farmsteads in Střítež are scattered across the paseky meadows between the forests of the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area.

Landscape and Nature

Rákosina is a protected wetland covering an area of 17,582 square metres at an altitude of 339 to 341 metres. In addition to reed beds, the area includes grass-covered embankments and approximately ten wetland pools. In 1993, it was declared a natural monument in order to protect living nature and, in particular, endangered amphibian species.

Culture and Local History

The Evangelical Church in Střítež nad Bečvou was built for a congregation of the Helvetic Confession between 1868 and 1876. It is a freestanding, three-nave pseudo-style church building with a polygonal apse. In 1993, the church was declared an immovable cultural monument and is listed in the Central Register of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic under registration number 10421. According to experts, the Baroque-style organ was built after 1780 by František Horčička and was purchased by the Střítež Evangelical congregation in 1873 for 100 gulden.

In the small park in front of the church stands a statue of T. G. Masaryk, erected in its present form in 1990. There is also a monument to the victims of the First World War. The organ in Střítež was declared a cultural monument by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic in 2004.

Historically, Střítež was known for the production of woollen lumberjack gloves, basketry and the weaving of reed mats.

Cycling Route and Walks

A marked cycling route leads from Střítež towards the Bystřička Reservoir, where it connects to several marked hiking and cycling routes. A shared pedestrian and cycle path completed in mid-2023 connects Střítež nad Bečvou with the existing “Cyklostezka Bečva” and Road I/35. The pond, with its well-maintained surroundings, is a frequent destination for walks by residents and visitors to Střítež.
