When choosing a holiday apartment in Salaš u Velehradu, the travel period, room category and cancellation conditions are among the details that can be compared directly with one another on the respective offer page. This keeps the selection aligned with your own travel dates and personal priorities. The three details concern different levels: the travel period defines the timeframe, the room category describes the layout, and the cancellation conditions represent the applicable terms. This keeps the accommodation details and the described characteristics of the area readable as separate information.
Nature
The Salašské pěnovce natural monument lies in the cadastral area of Salaš u Velehradu above a right-bank tributary of the Salaška, approximately 1.2 km northwest of Salaš. Salašské pěnovce protects the habitat of forest tufa springs. Two smaller forest tufa springs are located in the upper part of the slope of Salašské pěnovce.
The nature section thus presents a lookout point and a designated spring habitat with forest tufa springs side by side. The striking structure of the lookout tower and the two smaller springs represent different thematic focal points within the area.
Culture and Remembrance
The Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk in Salaš is a branch church of the Velehrad Basilica. Its construction began in May 1933; it was solemnly consecrated on 8 October 1933. It is dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk.
The Salaš tragedy took place on 29 April 1945 in Vápenice near Salaš. In the Salaš tragedy, 19 men and one woman were executed; most of them were residents of Salaš.
The present form of the memorial to the victims of the Salaš tragedy dates from 1985. The memorial includes monuments bearing the names of all the victims of the tragedy.
The chapel and the memorial site belong to different historical levels: the chapel is connected with the ecclesiastical history of the Velehrad Basilica, while the memorial commemorates the Salaš tragedy and the victims recorded by name.
Hiking and Getting There
The signposted hiking route to the Salaš Lookout Tower leads from Velehrad along a blue-marked hiking trail to Salaš and, from the signpost in the lower part of Salaš, continues along a yellow-marked route to the upper part of the village.
Bus routes run from Staré Město via Velehrad to Salaš; for the ascent to the Salaš Lookout Tower, the Obecní úřad stop is recommended.
This provides two separate pieces of information for orientation: the color-marked sections of the hiking route and the bus connection via Staré Město and Velehrad with the specified stop. They describe different ways of approaching the lookout point.
