Nedakonice: Holiday Apartment, Baťa Canal Cycle Path and Folklore

Two named cycle paths pass through Nedakonice: the cycle path along the Baťa Canal runs through the village, as does the Stezka Muškátu moravského cycle path. Nature

The Kolébky Nature Reserve also extends into the cadastral territory of Nedakonice. It protects an elm floodplain forest with a diverse composition of trees and stands of different ages. Rare amphibians, reptiles, insects and birds occur in the protected area.

The Nedakonický les forest is also part of this natural area. It comprises extensive floodplain forests with oxbow lakes and provides habitats for wetland and aquatic plants and animals. The Nedakonický les area contains mixed floodplain forests and is home to the bitterling.

Culture and History

The parish church in Nedakonice, dedicated to Saint Florian, was consecrated on 21 October 1934. A group of statues of Saint Wenceslas stands in the park next to St Florian's Church. A Hussite column also stands in Nedakonice, commemorating the famous Hussite era.

An event from 1421 is also part of the village's history: at the beginning of 1421, Moravian Taborites launched several incursions from Nedakonice against surrounding monasteries and towns. A stone sculpture of Saint John of Nepomuk, dating from 1740, stands at a bridge.

Folklore and Events

A special cultural connection to the village is provided by the children's folklore ensemble „Děcka z Nedakonic“, founded in Nedakonice in June 2023. It passes on folklore, dance and singing through children's games, folk customs and scenes from the everyday lives of their ancestors. The ensemble performs throughout the year with seasonal programmes for Fašank, Easter and Christmas.

The February Fašank has a firmly established place in Nedakonice's events calendar. Fishing competitions are usually held there in July as a sporting and social event. The cultural calendar is rounded off by the October event Slovácké hody s právem, regarded as the most important folklore event of the year in Nedakonice.
