Kněžpole offers views of a river landscape where the plain, the Morava and the floodplains belong together. The village reveals different facets shaped by nature conservation, local history and sports.

Landscape

Kněžpole lies in the extensive plain of the Dolnomoravský úval on the left bank of the Morava. The river also forms the natural western boundary of Kněžpole’s cadastral area. The Kněžpolský les floodplain forest lies between Kněžpole and the Morava and covers 333 hectares. The river, open plain and floodplain forest therefore form the village’s main landscape elements, with Kněžpolský les occupying the area between the settlement and the Morava.

Nature

The Trnovec Nature Reserve is located in the cadastral area of Kněžpole u Uherského Hradiště. It aims to preserve a structurally diverse hardwood floodplain forest and species-rich floodplain meadows that provide favorable conditions for endangered plant and animal species. The natural landscape therefore includes both the wooded floodplain area and the open meadows. Early spring is considered the best time to visit Trnovec, when the herbs in the forest undergrowth are in bloom and grey herons are nesting.

The Kanada Nature Reserve is a separated arm of the Morava, approximately 1.3 kilometers west of Kněžpole in the cadastral area of Kněžpole. It was created in the 1930s through the regulation of the Morava and covers 18.7303 hectares. Kanada protects endangered aquatic and wetland flora and fauna typical of this habitat. Trnovec and Kanada thus represent two different forms of the floodplain landscape: in one, the protected area is characterized by hardwood floodplain forest and species-rich floodplain meadows; in the other, by a separated river arm with its aquatic and wetland flora and fauna.

Culture

St. Anne’s Church in Kněžpole was built in 1856 as a new chapel dedicated to Saint Anne. Its building history continued later with an extension: St. Anne’s Chapel was expanded in 1996–1997 and consecrated as a church in October 1997. Both dates are clearly identified stages in the development of the religious building.

Sports and cycle route

The sports complex in Kněžpole has two illuminated tennis courts with synthetic surfaces and a tennis practice wall. It also includes an illuminated multipurpose area with a synthetic surface for various sports activities, as well as an adjacent beach volleyball court. The grass training area of the sports complex is used jointly with volunteer firefighters, who regularly hold fire-sports competitions there. The complex therefore includes tennis, a versatile synthetic-surface area, beach volleyball and fire sports in clearly distinct areas.

Cycle route 47B is also part of the village’s public profile: it runs from Napajedla to Uherské Hradiště and passes through Kněžpole. The village is thus incorporated into a named cycle route between these two cities.
