Březůvky shows how differently local history and landscape can meet at a small destination. Culture

The timber-framed barn is part of Březůvky’s historic architecture. It is a monument of exceptional historical, material and architectural significance for the municipality of Březůvky and the entire Luhačovické Zálesí region. The building therefore represents not only the history of the village but also holds a special position within the region as a whole.

A considerably more unusual side of the village’s history is revealed by an earlier tradition: in Březůvky, it was customary for masks dressed as pea straw, straw ropes and inverted fur coats to climb a tree in the village square. There, they preached satirically and publicly humiliated several people for fun. The people affected then had to buy their way out of the accusations at the local inn. The custom explicitly belongs to an earlier period and is not described as a present-day practice.

Another distinctive cultural landmark is the Chapel of Saint Agnes of Bohemia. Its construction began in 1998. The completed chapel was ceremonially consecrated at the end of August 2002 by Bishop Mgr. Hrdlička. It is Březůvky’s greatest attraction and is visible from the western edge of the municipality.

Water

At the small Kapřín Reservoir, the landscape is defined by a clearly delineated body of water. The reservoir is approximately 200 metres long and almost 100 metres wide. Swimming for recreation is possible and free of charge in Kapřín Reservoir; sport fishing is also possible there. Thus, two different forms of use coexist at this location, without losing sight of its manageable dimensions.

Nature

The Uhliska area is part of the landscape. It comprises preserved, partly waterlogged floodplain meadows in the meanders of the Černý potok, as well as adjacent natural and artificially created wetlands. Uhliska provides a habitat for endangered amphibian species and is also home to the noble crayfish. The landscape here is therefore shaped by the interplay of stream meanders, meadows and various wetlands.

Another specific landscape landmark is the Studánka Lukáščena spring. It is located approximately 1 kilometre from Březůvky. At the nearby spring, residents of the surrounding villages as well as tourists and motorists often stop to fill water containers. In addition to its location, its regular use by these different groups of people is therefore also part of the local character.

For spatial orientation, Březůvky also has the Březůvky, Na Hutích bus stop. It is located approximately 100 metres above the end of the small Kapřín Reservoir.
