Zdeňkov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Zdeňkov is located in the Křižanovská vrchovina highlands between Telč and Želetava and outside tourist-marked trails. The villagescape combines preserved buildings, traces of earlier events and landscape features in the surrounding area.

History

The former small château of Zdeňkov was completely demolished in 1817. Zdeňkov farmyard was rebuilt between 1816 and 1818 after a fire on the night of 28–29 April 1816.

The village square is home to the free-standing Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, built in the rural Baroque style in the 19th century. Following professional restoration, it was preserved for local worship; permission to celebrate Mass was reinstated in 1834. The village square is also home to the present-day statue of Saint Procopius, dating from 2013. It replaced an earlier statue that had been destroyed in the 1980s.

The older history of the village includes Otvrňský mlýn, an old village mill in a secluded location by a stream, which was first mentioned as early as 1376.

Landscape

The Otvrňský potok flows through the hamlet of Otvrň and the Pod Otvrní pond. Mount U Obrázku lies in the immediate vicinity of Zdeňkov. The mountains of Hory, Rudný and Srnčí vrch are also located around the village.

Culture

The U Svaté Magdalena Church is located in the immediate vicinity of Zdeňkov. The churches of U Svatého Křiže and Svatá Markéta are located in the surrounding area. Roštejn Castle lies in the wider regional surroundings of Zdeňkov.
