Culture and History

Plandry is closely associated with medieval silver mining. Together with the mining and smelting complex, the Rantířovsko-starohorský mining water canal is an important testament to the extraction and processing of silver ore. In the terrain, the canal appears as a simple ditch running along the slope of the Jihlava valley.

The valley of the Bělokamenský potok also points to this past: a smelting complex and a settlement of miners and ore processors were located there. An approximately 10–15 m long section of the stream bed contains visible metallurgical slag, indicating waterwheel-powered smelting furnaces.

Another notable site is the Baroque pilgrimage complex with the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk. It was built between 1735 and 1739 on the symbolic ground plan of a Saint John’s star. The central square chapel is surrounded by an enclosing wall with five niche chapels. The chapel is accessible during the pilgrimage; organized groups can visit it by prior telephone arrangement.

Nature and Trails

The 35.5 km-long Okrouhlík–Rantířov–Hornická naučná stezka hiking route runs through Plandry. The loop is classified as very demanding and has an elevation gain of 515 m. The Zaječí skok nature reserve, with thermophilous vegetation, is also located between Plandry and Rantířov.

Horse Riding and Traditions

Zámecká stáj Plandry offers English riding, riding lessons for adult beginners and advanced riders, trail rides, a riding school, and a pony school. The Dýňobraní pumpkin harvest festival is also traditionally held at Zámecká stáj Plandry.
