Culture and history
Kardašova Řečice can be explored through its architectural history, visible traces of the past, and living traditions. The Church of St John the Baptist was originally a Romanesque-Gothic building probably dating from the last third of the 13th century. It was rebuilt around 1380; further alterations took place in the 16th, 17th, and 19th centuries. The tower was added approximately between 1614 and 1620. After the fire of 1814, it received its characteristic onion-shaped roof and is 38 metres high.
The monument to Boleslav Jablonský is part of the local commemorative heritage. It was created by Josef Strachovský and ceremonially unveiled on 7 August 1886. Traditional events in Kardašova Řečice also include the Vánoční trhy; their preparation and organisational implementation are handled by the town council’s cultural commission.
Five single-storey houses from the former Jewish ghetto still remain today: house numbers 191, formerly I, 405, II, 406, III, 407, VII, and 408, VIII. The site of the former fortress of Kardašova Řečice also points to the town’s older history. It lies about one kilometre south of the town on a wooded hill and is marked by a rise in the terrain and a sign on the nearby road.

Velký rybník covers 96 hectares and includes an island of approximately one hectare. The lake has a beach area where swimming is possible in suitable weather.
