Dolní Rožínka: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

A prominent attraction in Dolní Rožínka is Strašidelný zámek Draxmoor. It is housed in a former distillery building whose history dates back to the 17th century. During a visit, you pass through three floors of the exhibition; the Draxmoor haunted lift takes visitors to an underground exhibition area. The tour begins with a short film in the oldest still-functioning 3D cinema.

Svět skřítků a víl opens every year during the holidays in Dolní Rožínka and includes a quiz game. The exhibition leads through meadows with fairies, a forest, and the dwellings of forest and village goblins. At the cultural centre in Dolní Rožínka, Svět skřítků a víl displays more than 1,500 self-designed figures.

Culture and history

The predecessor fortress of Dolní Rožínka Castle was first mentioned in 1459. At the end of the 16th century, the Pernštejns rebuilt the Dolní Rožínka fortress as a Renaissance château.

The Jívina ruins are located on a hill above the town. The ruins of the Jívina chapel were built by Jan Nepomuk Mitrovský between 1781 and 1789. They may have been built as a romantic backdrop for excursions by the nobility from the château and its guests on the occasion of the ceremonial conclusion of a hunt.

Landscape

Templ Forest Park was founded by Jan Nepomuk Mitrovský at the end of the 18th century and is located east of Dolní Rožínka. Templ Forest Park includes an English bath. It also contains a surviving pink Neoclassical chapel with the tomb of Jan Nepomuk Mitrovský and an Egyptian obelisk in the Empire style.

Rožná railway station is approximately 5 km from Draxmoor. There is a bus stop directly in Dolní Rožínka.
