Martiněves: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

House No. 1 in Martiněves preserves the foundations of a 16th-century fortress. It also contains structural traces of its later conversion into a Baroque manor house and the service buildings of a sugar factory. The house is also the birthplace of the Czech musicologist Otakar Hostinský.

Culture and history

At the southwestern edge of Martiněves lies a historic farmstead with a Baroque barn dated 1722. It bears the coat of arms of the Kinský family.

The Chapel of Saint John stands at the intersection of the old long-distance route, which is now a dirt track, and the road from Martiněves to Račiněves; it was restored in 1992. Martiněves is also home to a late Baroque chapel from the end of the 18th century, which was restored in 1908.

In the Pohořice area of Martiněves, the former inn No. 37 from the period of the historic route from Prague to Dresden has been preserved. This historic long-distance route ran through Pohořice in the municipality of Martiněves, from Prague toward Dresden, Leipzig and Berlin.

The “Monument to the Victims of the First World War in Martiněves” is a granite monument bearing the names of those who fell from Martiněves, Pohořice and Charvatce.

Getting around

The yellow-marked “Otakar Hostinský Trail” led from Mšené-lázně via a landscape park and through a forest to Martiněves. A green-marked route runs from Budyně nad Ohří via Vrbka, Martiněves and Mšené-lázně as well as Brníkov to Kostelec nad Ohří.

A short circular walk of approximately seven kilometres leads from Mšené-lázně via the “Otakar Hostinský Trail” to Martiněves and back via Charvatce. Martiněves is served by bus services year-round, including weekends.
