Bynovec lies in the valley of the Bynovecký potok. The entire municipal area of Bynovec lies within the Labské pískovce Protected Landscape Area; the Čabel Nature Reserve lies to the east of Bynovec.

History

Bynovec Chateau was built around 1700 on the site of a former farmstead on the northern side of the village. The Baroque Bynovec Chateau was probably built between 1703 and 1709 at the instigation of František Karel Clary-Aldringen as a summer residence with one wing. Bynovec Chateau included a vaulted chapel and an ornamental garden with a fountain. A roughly 4 km-long avenue once led from Bynovec Chateau to Belveder.

Bynovec originated as an originally German clearing settlement; its foundation is presumed to date to the 13th century.

Culture

The cross recorded in the cadastral area and municipality of Bynovec has been protected as a cultural monument since 10 May 2025. The pedestal of the sculpture is decorated with relief ornamentation, floral and grape festoons, and geometric details on its side faces.

The lower part of the Bynovec wayside shrine, Boží muka, bears the engraved year 1812. The so-called stone crosses along the district road from Bynovec to Růžová, built in 1923, date from 1778. The life-size sandstone group of the Pietà dates from 1734; it now stands in Bynovec, having previously been located in a pine forest on the road to Růžová.

The Baroque sandstone sculpture of the Immaculata in the centre of Bynovec is a cultural monument. The Calvary group in Bynovec is dated to 1764 based on the chronogram on the pedestal and the municipal chronicle. A plaque at the sculpture of the Immaculata in Bynovec, which is no longer present today, recorded its erection for the veneration of Saint Mary on 6 October 1724. According to a chronogram, a wayside cross in Bynovec was restored in 1910.

Paths and Routes

Slunečná brána, a large sandstone rock window in a small rock city, lies in the vicinity of Bynovec. The sandstone formations at Slunečná brána can be reached from Bynovec via the green-marked hiking trail. From Bynovec, an approximately 10 km-long circular route leads via Slunečná brána to Děčín and back via Růžová vyhlídka.

An approximately 40 km-long, moderately difficult cycling route from Děčín to Hřensko leads via Janov, Arnoltice and Bynovec onward to Slunečná brána and requires a mountain bike. The described hike takes buses 432 or 435 to Bynovec and then continues along the red-marked hiking trail to Labská Stráň.
