Veverské Knínice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Veverské Knínice lies in a small valley on the Knínický potok stream. Within the administrative area, Veverka is designated as an important landscape feature. Near Veverské Knínice, a system of river meanders, wetlands and ponds was created along a section of the Knínický potok stream just under one kilometre long.

Culture and History

The Church of St Nicholas stands on a slight elevation in the eastern part of Veverské Knínice. The parish Church of St Nicholas in Veverské Knínice is protected as an immovable cultural monument. The village square is home to a statue of St John of Nepomuk, which is also protected as a cultural monument. The wayside shrine Boží muka na Oulehlách is protected as another cultural monument.

The Chapel of St Ludmila stands above Veverské Knínice. Veverské Knínice are first mentioned in a document issued in Znojmo on 31 October 1234, confirming the possessions and liberties of the Porta Coeli Monastery. In economic terms, Veverské Knínice were subject to the Porta Coeli Monastery. Historically, at that time called Německé Kněnice, they had certain obligations towards the sovereign's Veveří Castle.

The local cultural life includes an amateur theatre group. At that time, it had been active for 32 years and was preparing its 30th premiere for Saturday, 4 March.

Getting Around

Regional bus route 402 connects Brno with Veverské Knínice via Troubsko, Popůvky, the Masaryk Circuit, Ostrovačice and Říčany. The yellow-marked hiking trail leads from Javůrek via Veverské Knínice to Podkomorská myslivna.
