Valchov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Valchov lies on the edge of the Drahanská vrchovina highlands. The landscape is predominantly hilly and wooded and includes cultivated fields and meadows. The important Valchovka River flows through the village.

Landscape and Trails

A red-marked hiking trail runs through Valchov, connecting the village with Boskovice and Žďárná. In addition, a yellow-marked hiking trail begins in the centre of Valchov; it leads to Sloup and the Sloup-Šošůvka Caves. Cycle Route No. 5227 also passes through the village. It connects Boskovice, Hrádkov, Valchov, Velenov, Suchý, Skalky, Benešov and Pavlov.

Culture and History

The Chapel of Saints Peter and Paul was consecrated on 29 June 2003. Woodcarver Ivo Krajíček created the design of its front wall. The former mill with its millpond is a building of folk architecture with its exterior appearance preserved.

Iron ore was mined in the surroundings of Valchov. A manorial saltpetre works was located near a mill. West of Valchov, the remains of a saltpetre works can be found near a forester's lodge.

The nearby surroundings of Valchov include Skatulec and Bučí, which are considered mountains. Skály and Jedla, also considered mountains, are located in the surrounding area. The Chapel of St. Anne is also located in the surroundings of Valchov.

The wider regional surroundings of Valchov include the Monument to the Victims of the First and Second World Wars, as well as the remains of Kuchlov and Hrádek, which are considered ruins.
