Rybníky: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Rybníky combines a nature trail with historic buildings and signposted routes. The “Mezi poli a lesy” educational trail begins at the recycling yard in Rybníky and offers an almost five-kilometre route around the village. Its information panels provide interesting facts about the nature and landscape of Rybníky. The 84-kilometre “Živé pomezí Krumlovsko–Jevišovicko” cycle route, which is not a circular route, also passes through Rybníky.

Culture and History

The Neo-Gothic Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Rybníky was consecrated on 25 July 1877. About 1 km from Rybníky in the direction of Moravský Krumlov stands the Chapel of Saint Margaret, isolated in a cemetery. It is located in the former presbytery of a 13th-century church.

The water mill in Rybníky is also part of the village’s history: it was first mentioned in 1707, while the present building was constructed in 1804. The water mill is occasionally used for social events.

History Along the Way

The former settlement of Topanov disappeared in the 17th century; the Chapel of Saint Margaret is all that remains. As part of European Heritage Days, a guided walk passes the site of the vanished medieval settlement of Topanov. A walk held as part of these celebrations follows the yellow tourist trail to the Chapel of Saint Margaret. The guided walk from Rybníky to Moravský Krumlov begins at Drápalův mlýn in Rybníky.

Traditions and Events

The traditional wine tasting in Rybníky is organised by ZO ČZS Rybníky. The “Sraz vozatajů a přátel koní” gathering features competitions with one-, two- and four-horse teams. There are also carriage races for ponies, children and cold-blooded horses.
