Rudice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Rudické propadání is designated as a national natural monument. The Rudické propadání–Býčí skála cave system has around 13 km of passages and is the second-longest cave system in the Czech Republic.

Nature

The underground spaces of Rudické propadání are not open to the public. Visits are only possible on exceptional occasions as part of speleological courses and accompanied by experienced instructors. The mountains of Stádla, Bučí, Jedla and Babí Lom are located in the vicinity of Rudice.

Next to the windmill in Rudice is a small geopark with rock samples from the Moravian Karst and Drahanská vrchovina. The Seč kaolin quarry also displays a remarkable geological palette of colours: its walls show white, yellow, orange and red shades created by the kaolin deposits found there.

Culture and History

The windmill in Rudice is a Dutch-type windmill and was built in 1865 by Matěj and Františka Ševčík. Admission and viewing the exhibits in the museum of the Rudice windmill are only possible when accompanied by a guide.

The Chapel of Saint Barbara stands at the intersection of two avenues. It consists of double-shell masonry: stone on the outside and brick on the inside. The ruins of Kuchlov and Hrádek are also located in the vicinity of Rudice. The Pomník obětem 1. a 2. světové války memorial is located in the wider regional surroundings of Rudice.

Excursions and Activities

The “To Rudice to the Windmill and the Seč Kaolin Quarry” excursion route is a 6.5 km circular trail. Climbing is permitted year-round on the rocks at Kolíbky – Slza, Podhradí and Hrad. Brno Zoo is located in the wider regional surroundings of Rudice.
