Olbramovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Olbramovice combines distinctive religious buildings, Renaissance and Baroque architecture, and a multifaceted history centred around Kalvárie. The parish Church of St James the Greater is a late Gothic, two-nave building with cross vaults resting on two massive stone columns. The town hall was built in the Renaissance style in the second third of the 16th century, while the Roman Catholic parish house is a Baroque building from the second half of the 17th century.
Culture and History
Historical details include the wayside shrine by the church, a late Gothic stonecutter’s monument dating from 1518, as well as another wayside shrine on the road to Moravský Krumlov. This one dates from the first quarter of the 16th century and stands at a former execution site.
Kalvárie is a small hill about seven metres high, with a cross and stone steps at its summit. Archaeological surveys revealed successive traces of settlement there: from the Early Iron Age in the 6th century BC, from the later Roman-Barbarian period in the 3rd to 4th centuries AD, and from a fortress dating from the 13th century.
Events and Sport
Various sporting and entertainment events, as well as football tournaments, take place at the Olbramovice sports complex. The complex includes a grass pitch, a backup sand pitch, an asphalt area with a national handball court, partially renovated changing rooms, a covered stand, and a snack bar.
Two events were also scheduled for 2026: the seventh edition of “Olbramovická lávka” was scheduled for Saturday, 18 July 2026, from 1 p.m. at the Rašelák pond in Olbramovice. The third edition of the “Pivní slavnosti” festival was scheduled for Saturday, 4 July 2026, from 1 p.m. at Kavárna nad palírnou in Olbramovice.
