Kněževes: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

A blue-marked hiking trail leads directly through Kněževes and runs via Olešnice, Veselka, Kněževes, Studenec, Svojanov and Bystré to Dalečín. The Svojanovsko educational trail also begins in Kněževes, leading from there via Dolní Lhota and Svojanov to Rohozná.

Hiking Trails and Cycle Routes

Local cycle route 5085 runs through Kněževes from Pustá Rybná, Lačnov, Korouhev and Jedlová, continuing via Ústup and Sulíkov to Rudka u Kunštátu. A higher-level cycle route leads from Kněževes to Kunštát along the old Imperial Road. Cycle route 5086 runs from Svojanov via Hutě, Jobova Lhota, Kněževes, Olešnice, Křtěnov and Hodonín to Nedvědice. The two local cycle routes cross in Kněževes. Their routes follow existing dedicated paths and lower-order roads with low traffic volumes.

A yellow-marked hiking trail also leads from Kněževes northwards through the Panský les forest to the settlement of Dolní Lhota.

Nature

The V Jezdinách natural monument is located in the administrative area of Kněževes. V Jezdinách protects a unique landscape complex within the cultivated landscape, of regional importance and with high ecological and aesthetic quality; it is particularly significant because six orchid species occur there. From a tourist perspective, Kněževes is connected to the extensive areas of the Údolí Křetínky, Svratecká hornatina and Halasovo Kunštátsko nature parks.

Culture and Village Character

The settlement of Veselka in the municipality of Kněževes is designated as a protected village heritage conservation zone under ÚSKP number 2333. The Chapel of Saint Mary Magdalene is located in Kněževes.

Kněževes is home to a Baroque stone wayside shrine in the form of a tall shaft with a stone cross and a figure of Christ; the year 1780 is inscribed on the square base. The Chapel of Saint Florian is a small chapel with a square floor plan and rounded corners, an entrance with a semicircular vault and a four-sided bell tower on the helmet-shaped roof.

The Church of Saint James the Greater is a single-nave church of older origin with elaborate Baroque articulation, a laterally offset chancel with a shallow-domed vault and an apse. A tower with a bulbous roof stands on the north side of the chancel, while the nave has a cross vault. The Church of Saint John the Baptist is a Baroque church with partly older masonry. Its nave has a flat ceiling and a wooden three-part gallery, while the elongated presbytery is vaulted with two bays of cross vaulting.

In front of the vicarage on the village square stands a Baroque stone Marian column with a statue of the Immaculate Conception on a prismatic base with a composite capital. The granite fountain dating from 1684, with rosette reliefs on the basin walls, stood at the château in Stránecká Zhoř until 2013 and is now installed in Kněževes in disassembled form. There is also a small agricultural farmstead complex that originally served as an inn and, as the last surviving wooden house in the village, retains numerous authentic details. A high-quality statue of Saint John of Nepomuk probably dates from around the middle of the 19th century; the restoration year 1891 is recorded on the pedestal.
