Hradčany: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Hradčany reveals its character through striking landscape features and historical traces that extend into the present day. The Chapel of Saint Anne is particularly characteristic of the village: it is the distinctive landmark of Hradčany. The present-day chapel was built in 1969; the existence of a Chapel of Saint Anne in Hradčany is already documented in the first military survey of the country from 1764.

Culture and History

One of the visible memorial sites is the monument to the victims of the world wars, which was ceremonially unveiled on 29 April 1923. Hradčany is also home to a wayside shrine, known as a Boží muka, whose year of construction is unknown. Fortification ramparts and an earthwork embankment from the former fortifications are still visible.

Landscape

Horka Hill is a significant landscape feature in Hradčany. Its plateau is home to the municipality’s sports facilities, including a football pitch and a multi-purpose court with ancillary facilities; they have been in operation since 1953. The Horka area is intended for recreation and relaxation.

Stráž Hill is also among the aforementioned landscape features. Stráž can be easily reached from the transformer station. From Stráž, there is a connection to the EuroVelo cycling route; it continues towards Kuřim, Brno, Tišnov or Nedvědice.

Activities

The Sádek leisure area in Hradčany now has play equipment for younger children and a workout course for teenagers.

Transport and Events

Hradčany belongs to the IDS JMK fare zone and has a bus stop on road II/385.

At the Babské hody in Hradčany on Saturday, 13 September 2025, a traditional-costume procession accompanied by the Podhorácká kapela brass band passed through the entire municipality and invited people to a dance event beginning at 8 p.m. at the cultural centre.
