Hostěradice: Holiday Apartments and Houses

The Church of St. Kunigunde is a valuable medieval church associated with the former commandery of the Teutonic Order. It contains the tombstone of Jan Gatnar, the last Utraquist parish priest.

Culture and History

The former commandery of the Teutonic Order was founded after 1237. The surviving buildings of the former commandery are now part of the rectory; further remains can be found in the parish garden. A remnant of the moat of the former commandery has also been preserved in the southern part of the parish complex.

Hostěradice is one of the historic Utraquist parishes. Another testament to the history of the village is the Mariánský sloup column, a High Baroque work from 1728 by the sculptor Štěpán Pagan. Statues of St. Joseph, St. Joachim, St. Sebastian and St. Urban stand at its corners.

A Baroque group of figures depicting St. Anne and the Virgin Mary stands near the Church of St. Kunigunde and dates from 1763.

Places of Interest

The late Baroque Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, together with a nearby stone cross, is a dominant landmark on the village square of Hostěradice. The nearby stone cross also forms an integral part of the distinctive appearance of the village square in Hostěradice.

Nature

The U Kapličky Nature Monument features thermophilous plant communities with sand iris and an abundant occurrence of pasque flower.

Getting There and Routes

Hostěradice can be reached by car or bus, lies on the Znojmo–Moravský Krumlov route and is integrated into the IDS JMK transport system.

The main route (Route I) of the Znojemská vinařská I runs from Hrušovansko to Znojmo, mostly through flat and hilly terrain; it follows Class II and Class III roads as well as field paths.
