Sousedovice lies at the foot of the 600-metre-high Hradiště.
Landscape
To the west of Sousedovice rises the wooded Kamenná Bába hill, also known as Skalice, at an altitude of 555 metres. Southwest of Sousedovice, the elongated, wooded Kbýl hill stretches towards Libětice and reaches an altitude of 664 metres. The extensive Hůl forest stretches between Sousedovice and the municipalities of Drachkov and Pracejovice. The Kamenná baba geological formation lies behind Sousedovice on cycle route 1068.
Cycle Route
Cycle route 1068 passes through Sousedovice and runs through a landscape offering expansive views. The final 150-metre section of the turn-off to Kbíl is very demanding for mountain bikers; less experienced cyclists can cover this section on foot.
History
Archaeological finds show that the present-day area of Sousedovice has been inhabited for more than 2,000 years. In the older Iron Age, around the 4th century BC, a settlement surrounded by stone walls stood on Hradiště. After being resettled by a Slavic tribe around the 7th century, Hradiště and its outer bailey were reportedly used until the 10th century. The first written mention of Sousedovice dates from 1243, when Bavor I donated part of Strakonice Castle and several villages, including Sousedovice, to the convent of the Order of Malta.
Village Character and Customs
The village chapel on Sousedovice village green is considered an important monument and was reconstructed in 2002. A monument to those who fell in the First World War, erected in 1936, stands next to the Sousedovice municipal office. A traditional Masopust procession takes place every year, passing through Smradice, Libětice and Sousedovice. A masked carnival for children is also held annually in Sousedovice.
