Pracejovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Pracejovice combines a specific historical connection with remarkable natural and cultural sites. The Beranův dům houses a memorial to Rudolf Beran, where visitors can learn more about his life. Today, the building serves the municipality as a cultural centre.

Culture and History

An early date in the history of the village is 22 January 1308: on that day, Bavor III sold Pracejovice, together with a gold-washing site, a pond and meadows, to the Knights Hospitaller. Pracejovice is also associated with Rudolf Beran, a significant political figure. Rudolf Beran (1887–1954), who was born in Pracejovice, was chairman of the Czechoslovak government from 1938 to 1939 and subsequently of the Protectorate government. His birthplace is also located in Pracejovice.

The architectural heritage includes the Chapel of the Virgin Mary on the village green in Pracejovice, designed in the vernacular Baroque style and dating from 1898, as well as the brick Sýpka at house no. 17. It is a state-protected monument, considered the oldest building in the village, and has a tiled roof. The Švehlův dům at house no. 13 bears a bust of Antonín Švehla.

Nature and Trails

Bažantnice u Pracejovic, a remnant of floodplain forest in the Otava Valley with relatively well-preserved tree and herb layers, is located in the surroundings of Pracejovice. The area lies on the right bank of the Otava opposite Nový Dražejov and includes periodically flooded pools with a significant occurrence of amphibians and protected birds.

Cycle route 1066 from Strakonice to Horažďovice passes through Pracejovice. The village also has bus and train connections.
