Nevězice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Nevězice combines a Celtic oppidum, a historically shaped villagescape, and paths through the landscape around the Orlík Reservoir. The oppidum was founded on a strategically located promontory with an older settlement dating from the Late Bronze Age. Today, it is situated on a picturesque promontory above the Orlík Reservoir.

Culture and History

The oppidum served as an administrative and power centre for a larger region. Under Section 2 of Czech Act No. 20/1987 Coll. on State Monument Preservation, the oppidum corresponds to the definition of a cultural monument. Its good reputation and renown are first mentioned in 1444.

Nevězice is also present in folk tradition: a folk song about the bricklayers of Nevězice appears in K. J. Erben’s collection “České národní písně”.

Villagescape

The historic villagescape of Nevězice includes a series of farmsteads and smallholders’ houses dating from the mid-18th to the mid-19th century. Most of these historic farmsteads and smallholders’ houses have now been carefully reconstructed.

Hiking

The red hiking trail from Sušice to Příbram passes through Nevězice. The green Orlík–Zvíkov hiking trail follows the historical development of the region; the Celtic oppidum southeast of Nevězice is one of the stops along this trail.

Cycling

Nevězice is also connected to a regional cycling route. The “Okolo Orlické přehrady I” cycling route passes through Nevězice, is 35 km long, and is considered a moderately difficult route.
