Culture and history

The Church of Saint Procopius in Chyšky is originally Romanesque and preserves its Romanesque presbytery. In 1420, it was burned down by the Hussites and subsequently rebuilt. The local church is described as the only larger local monument in Chyšky.

The Jewish cemetery near Chyšky was established at the beginning of the 18th century. Today, around 50 gravestones remain there. The cemetery is freely accessible.

In the wider regional surroundings of Chyšky are Zvíkov Castle, the historical site “Lety u Písku. Memorial to the Holocaust of Roma and Sinti in Bohemia”, and the Church of Svatý Jan.

Nature

The area around Chyšky is part of the Jistebnická vrchovina Nature Park. The mountains Javorová Skála, Jenšovice, Smrčí and Zvíkovec are each located in the vicinity of Chyšky.

In summer, hiking and cycling are possible in Chyšky.
