Muckov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Muckov has been documented as a settlement since 1518. The finely ground Muckov limestone is also associated with a special history: it is said to have been used in 1914 as medical powder in first-aid kits for soldiers departing for the front. It is also said to have been supplied to Bayer in Germany and to a company in Paris that manufactured cosmetic powder.

Limestone Landscape

About 300 metres west of Muckov, the Muckovské vápencové lomy lie in a forest. The quarries feature impressive monumental rock pillars. They are botanically valuable, serve as winter quarters for bats and preserve remains of underground crystal limestone mining.

Routes

The Květušínská cesta is a 47-kilometre cycling route with a paved surface. It follows cycle route 1245 between Světlík and Černá v Pošumaví via Muckov.

The 74.2-kilometre Krumlovská cycling route also passes through Muckov. As a circular route, it connects Lipensko and Český Krumlov and offers both natural and cultural experiences.

The route to Olšina Pond leads from Černá along the Muckovské vápencové lomy to Muckov, where it turns towards Mokrá. Following a bow-shaped course, it circles Little Lipno and Olšina Pond.

The Naučný okruh Světlík begins in Černá, leads to Muckov and continues to Světlík. Along the way, it passes through places whose history dates back to the medieval settlement of the Bohemian Forest.

The Horem lesem route lists the Muckovské vápencové lomy as one of its points of interest and notes that they are closed to the public. On the way back to Černá v Pošumaví, it passes through Muckov and Slavkovice.
