Mokrá: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Mokrá is closely associated with graphite mining: the graphite boom of 1846 led to a significant expansion of mining, which in the area of Mokrá and its entire surroundings comprised twelve shafts with depths of 40 to 70 metres.

Mining history

The Josefova štola is a drainage adit dating from 1897. A newly created gravel educational trail leads to its portal. The portal of the Josefova štola near Mokrá, close to Černá v Pošumaví, is a newly reconstructed technical monument and is considered open.

Chapel and settlement history

Another historical testament is the chapel in Mokrá. It dates from 1849 and was saved from complete decay and restored in 1999.

In historical accounts, Mokrá is regarded as the most important village of the Hirzův Újezd settlement association, also known as Mokerský Újezd. This historical settlement association is named after the burgrave Hirzo, who owned the area before 1263; Hirzo's possession is first mentioned in the founding charter of Zlatá Koruna Monastery.

Cycling route and Olšina

The Rybník Olšina cycling route runs from Černá along the Muckov limestone quarries to Muckov, where it turns towards Mokrá. From Mokrá, it continues to the Olšina pond. In the wider vicinity of Mokrá, the Rybářská bašta near Olšina houses an exhibition about fishing and hunting.
