Benešovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In the Middle Ages, Benešovice was located on a trade route between Prague and Nuremberg that was called the Golden Road during the time of Charles IV. Because of its economically significant location, the nearby monastery in Kladruby sought to acquire Benešovice and disputed ownership of it with the nobility for centuries.

Landscape and Routes

Today, Benešovice invites visitors to enjoy peaceful walks and cycling tours. Cycle route No. 2203 runs via Damnov, Benešovice and Vrbice u Stříbra and is 18 km long. Route 2211 runs via Prostiboř, Brod u Stříbra, Výrov, Benešovice, Lom u Stříbra and Svojšín and is 17.5 km long.

The D5 runs through Benešovice; otherwise, the surrounding area is described as a rather sparsely populated landscape with forests, fields and villages surrounded by nature that has so far been little discovered by tourists. The absence of large hills is described as an advantage for less experienced cyclists and hikers.

In the immediate vicinity of Benešovice lies Výrovský rybník, hidden in the forest and visited as a natural swimming area.

Culture

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary is located in Benešovice. It was moved in 1974; at the time, this served as a dress rehearsal for moving the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Most.

It is considered likely that Benešovice came into being because of the Golden Road on the damp and infertile soil there.

The war memorial in Benešovice was erected in the 1920s in memory of 14 residents who did not return from the First World War.
