Starkoč is a place where church history, local festival culture and natural-history features are revealed in various facets.

Culture and local history

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Starkoč was first mentioned as a parish church in 1352. The present-day church was built in 1738 and is opened for concerts, lectures, tours and community gatherings. The local history also includes a monument commemorating 20 fellow citizens who fell on the battlefields.

Zámek Kačina Castle is located in the vicinity of Starkoč. The Church of St. George is also located in the wider surrounding region.

Festivals and events

Starkočská pouť is a traditional local festival followed by musical entertainment. At Starkočská pouť 2025, children's attractions were scheduled from 1 p.m. and an evening event from 8 p.m.

The “Pohár branné všestrannosti” competition was documented in Starkoč on 24 August 2024; it is scheduled for August 2026.

Landscape and natural history

Several elevations are located in the vicinity of Starkoč: Krkanka Mountain and Bučina Mountain. The nearby area also includes Višňovka Hill [Podhořany u Ronova] and Husinec Hill [Semtěš u Bílého Podolí].

Čertův důl is listed in Starkoč as a destination for an excursion. Starkočský lom is a palaeontological locality and is considered the only known occurrence of the coral Isis miranda in the Czech Republic. At the same time, Starkočský lom is a mineralogical locality with large almandine grains and crystals.

PID bus route 784 connects Starkoč on the Kutná Hora–Horka I–Vrdy–Čáslav route.
