Parizov: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Pařížov begins with a remarkable historic monument: at the northwestern edge of the village stands the Romanesque Church of St. Mary Magdalene on a rocky outcrop above the river. It is the oldest building in Pařížov; its surviving wooden structural elements have been dendrochronologically dated to the beginning of the 12th century.

Culture and history

Directly below the church, old stone walls stand on the slope above the river. Pařížov is also associated with a historic route: the old road from Pařížov towards Moravany is linked to the route of the original Libická (Liběcká) Trail.

The history of the Pařížov Dam includes two closely connected dates. It was built on the Doubrava River between 1909 and 1913. Its construction was a response to the major floods and flooding events of 1885, 1888, 1897 and 1908.

Water and nature

The Pařížov Reservoir is part of the Doubrava Nature Park and is used for recreation and fishing. Upstream from the Pařížov Reservoir on the Doubrava, a romantic valley stretches out with smaller rocky outcrops and mixed woodland.

The outlet tunnel of the Pařížov Dam is an important winter roost for the barbastelle bat.

Traces in the village

In the centre of Pařížov there is an old millrace tunnel with a stone vault. Water flows through it beneath the extensive mill yard and the foundations of the adjacent barn.

The vaulted section of the Pařížov millrace tunnel is approximately 30 metres long, excluding the bridge. The tunnel is on private property and is not accessible to the public.
