Desná: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The dominant valley of the Desná River shapes the landscape of Desná. On site, small forests, groves, slopes and flatter fields combine to create a varied landscape.

Culture and History

The Chapel of Saints Peter and Paul dates from 1839 and has a newly restored interior. Another historical detail can be found at House No. 85: its gable bears an inscription carved into a plank, dating from 1866. The nobleman “Čeněk z Desné” is mentioned as early as 1293.

Events and Traditions

“Vítání prázdnin” is a recurring community event in Desná. The 2026 programme included physical activities for children, including fishing for small fish, air-rifle shooting, crawling and floorball.

The firefighting attack competition “O pohár obce Desná” is part of the Okresní liga Svitavska; for 2026, it was scheduled to be held for the 22nd time. A competition called “Desenský duel” was also scheduled as a qualifying final in the parallel attack format.

The municipality describes “Pálení čarodějnic” as a traditional event held at the Desná sports field. “Zpívání u jesliček” includes performances by children and Christmas carols; at the same time, it is a traditional gathering at Desná’s municipal nativity scenes. Mulled wine and refreshments were offered at the third edition of “Svařákobraní”.

Neither a marked hiking trail nor a marked cycle path passes through Desná.
