Turovice: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Turovice is documented in records dating back to 1131. The village lies along a prehistoric route through the Moštěnka Valley, which led from Haná via Záhoří to Hostýn. Finds from the Early Neolithic and the Bronze Age have been made in Turovice.

Culture and History

A fortress once stood at the site known as “Zámčiska”. Another historical feature is the Baroque chapel in Turovice: it dates from 1707 and contains a statue of Saint Starosta. The cult of Saint Starosta was introduced to Turovice by Capuchins. Statues of Saint Starosta are rare in the Czech Republic.

The Turovický slivkošt, a traditional event, is part of the local customs. During the carnival season, Turovice also maintains the annual tradition of Vodění medvěda, the leading of the bear.

Nature and Landscape

The Moštěnka stream flows through Turovice. Nearby lies the Kamenice nature monument, which was designated to protect the vegetation. The nature monument covers 2.95 hectares. Forty-four bird species have been recorded in Kamenice, including several species listed in the Red Book of Endangered and Rare Species.

The Kelčský Javorník and Holý vrch mountains are located in the vicinity of Turovice. Tereza [Kostelec u Holešova] is a hill near Turovice. Zadní vrch is a mountain in the wider regional surroundings of Turovice.
