Soběchleby presents a multifaceted local character shaped by historical landmarks, its location in the Záhorská Basin, cycling and running routes, and scheduled events.

Culture and History

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Soběchleby is a protected cultural monument. The present church was built between 1754 and 1770 and stands over the foundations of a Romanesque chapel and a Gothic church associated with the Ladies of Helfštýn. A Brethren school was founded in Soběchleby as early as 1555; in 1711, it was renovated and extended by an upper floor with two classrooms. The municipal coat of arms also preserves historical references: it depicts three loaves of bread and two wine knives, and its design from 1752 has been handed down to the present day.

Landscape and Routes

Soběchleby is located in the Záhorská kotlina, the Záhorská Basin. Marked cycle route 6137 runs through the village, connecting Soběchleby with Helfštýn. At Helfštýn, it joins the long-distance Jantarová stezka cycle route, the Amber Trail.

A Way of the Cross leads from Simře to Soběchleby; 14 crosses have been erected along this Way of the Cross.

Exercise and Events

The Soběchlebský Š-krpál is a regularly held running competition. Its main route, approximately 11.7 km long, runs through the area around Soběchleby and follows paved field and forest roads for 90% of its length. The programme for the 2026 Soběchlebský Š-krpál includes an 11.7 km main race, a 6 km fitness run, and children's races from 150 to 900 m. The event is scheduled for 19 September 2026; the start will take place at the TJ Sokol Soběchleby football pitch.

The 27th edition of the “Putovní pohár SDH Soběchleby” competition in firefighting attack for young firefighters is scheduled for 5 September 2026. The 7th edition of the “ZÁHORSKEJ HASIČ TFA” competition is announced for 17 October 2026. Soběchleby outdoor swimming pool was expected to open for the season from 26 June 2026. According to the announcement for 2026, children under 10 were allowed to enter the outdoor swimming pool only when accompanied by a person at least 18 years old.
