Around Skorošice, protected waterscapes, distinctive mountains and a local history closely connected with granite come together. The Vodopády Stříbrného potoka waterfalls in particular give the area a unique character.

Nature and Trails

The Vodopády Stříbrného potoka waterfalls are designated as a natural monument and as a site of community importance. The protected area encompasses an approximately 110-metre-long gorge-like ravine with rocky steps, waterfalls and cascades. The highest waterfall in the Rychlebské hory is located in this section. A cycling path and a green-marked hiking trail run along the forest road beside the Stříbrný potok.

The easiest access to the Nýznerovské vodopády waterfalls is via a forest road from Nýznerov, which is accessible only to pedestrians.

Another distinctive landmark is Lánský vrch: since 2007, an oversized table and two chairs have stood on its summit. Lánský vrch can be reached via an unmarked footpath from Sedmlánů; buses on the Jeseník–Žulová–Javorník route stop there, and parking is available. From Lánský vrch, you can see Skorošice, the Rychlebské hory, Praděd and large lakes in the adjacent Polish lowlands.

Granite and Local History

Granite was quarried at the flooded Vaněk quarry for the wall cladding of the Prague Metro. The processing of the stone is also documented in the local history of Skorošice: in the 18th century, a sculptor's workshop operated here, processing local granite.

In Nýznerov, a district of Skorošice, stands the neo-Gothic masonry Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. A memorial plaque commemorating the victims of the First World War is mounted on its wall.
