Stará Červená Voda: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Stará Červená Voda showcases ecclesiastical architecture, traces of kaolin mining, distinctive rock formations, as well as cycling and trail routes. Between its historic spring, protected landscapes and remarkable trees, the village reveals many different facets.

Culture and local history

The Roman Catholic parish church of Božího těla stands in the village. It is a cultural monument; its Gothic core dates from the 13th century. In 1753, it received its Baroque nave; its furnishings include Baroque and Neoclassical elements. Fragments of original 13th-century frescoes have been preserved in the presbytery. In front of the church stands the Baroque Trinity Column from the first half of the 18th century, which, together with the church, is protected as a monument.

The monument to the victims of the First World War by Josef Obeth is located at the cemetery wall. It was erected in 1929 and reconstructed in 2005.

At the edge of the municipality near Vidnava stands the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows, built in 1904. The double chapel serves as a mortuary chapel on one side and as the Latzel family crypt on the other.

Traces of kaolin mining

The Old and New Kaolin Pits in the municipality include a railway tunnel that is a technical monument. The Kaolin Railway Tunnel is one of two such tunnels in the Jeseník District. Its particularly striking feature is its very well-preserved portal with pilasters dating from 1921.

Nature between rocks and forest

Sedm skal is considered the largest rock formation in Stará Červená Voda. The formation consists of granite blocks transported there by glaciers and forms an approximately eight-metre-high rock wall. From the upper edge of Nová Červená Voda, Sedm skal can be reached via the connection to the cycling route in the direction of Černá Voda.

The Rychlebské hory-Sokolský hřbet European protected area extends into the territory of Stará Červená Voda. The Stará Červená Voda forest complex is home to a regionally significant population of the yellow-bellied toad (Bombina variegata).

A protected large-leaved lime tree stands in Nová Červená Voda and is considered the largest known tree of its kind in the region. Lípa u šilhavé báby is also located there, a large-leaved lime tree with an original major branch still preserved; the remainder of the crown consists of secondary branches.

Cycling and trail routes

Several singletrail routes of the Rychlebské Trails run through the cadastral area of the municipality, particularly through Nová Červená Voda. There are also mountain bike trail routes in the vicinity of Stará Červená Voda. The 28-kilometre cycling route 6046, classified as moderately difficult, passes through Stará Červená Voda.

Historic spring

Pramen Pokroku was established in 1848 under the name Vorwärts Quelle and is a well-preserved historic spring in the cadastral area of Stará Červená Voda. Today, it retains its round shape and has a square marble plaque bearing its name; access to the spring has been partially restored.
