Pavlovice u Přerova lies on a prominent spur of the Kelčská pahorkatina hills. The village is located on the border between Haná and Valašsko, in the Záhoří area. Its early history is also tangible: stone tools dating from the Upper Paleolithic were found at the Přísahanec archaeological site and attributed to the Aurignacian culture. Přísahanec [Sušice u Přerova] is a hill in the vicinity of Pavlovice u Přerova.

Nature

The mountains Růžový Kopec, Kelčský Javorník, and Holý vrch are located in the wider regional surroundings of Pavlovice u Přerova.

History

The medieval fortification of Hausberk was located in the Zámčisko area on the northern edge of the Záhoří forest and was surrounded by a rampart and a moat. Of the 14th-century fortress in Pavlovice, a leveled residential platform and, to the east, a still recognizable remnant of a moat approximately 1 meter deep have been preserved.

The present-day Church of St. Giles was built in 1885–1886; the tower from 1555 was preserved from the earlier building. Three historical tombstones that have survived to this day are displayed in the entrance area of the church.

Culture

The chateau complex in Pavlovice u Přerova was built by Baron Alfred Skene. The complex includes a Neo-Gothic garden pavilion and an entrance gate known as “Předzámčí.” The chateau has been protected as a cultural monument since February 2, 1994, under registration number ÚSKP 10334/8-3535.

Next to the stairs leading to the Church of St. Giles stand two Baroque sandstone statues: one of Saint John of Nepomuk and one of Blessed John Sarkander. The protected ensemble of three Baroque statues in Pavlovice documents the development of sculpture in the Olomouc region during the second quarter of the 18th century.
