Bílá Voda U Javorníka: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The pilgrimage church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary and the former Piarist College have formed the spiritual and historical centre of Bílá Voda for centuries. The church acquired its present appearance through the Baroque rebuilding of a smaller church that Baron Kryštof von Maltitz had constructed between 1602 and 1604.

Culture

Bílá Voda was the first Piarist foundation in all of Silesia. During the solemn consecration of the pilgrimage church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in 1777, seminarians performed a play watched by around 4,000 people. The Piarist seminary in Bílá Voda served as a venue for music concerts and theatrical performances.

The Museum of Isolation, Internment and Integration presents the history of Bílá Voda, from the first written mentions of the settlement of Wyssoká and Weissasser to its later resettlement. The second part of the museum documents the internment of nuns in Bílá Voda. This period began on 28 September 1950 with the arrival of the first transport as part of Action R, which aimed to dissolve women’s religious communities.

The cemetery in Bílá Voda is the final resting place of around 700 nuns.

Groups wishing to visit the museum in the Piarist Gymnasium and College with a guide must register by telephone or email three weeks in advance.

Landscape

The former castle park in Bílá Voda, the starting point of the Bílá Voda–Borders route, was laid out in the second half of the 18th century. This former castle park is home to a yew tree more than 300 years old, which is considered a nationally protected tree.

The Bílá Voda–Borders route leads to the former Kukačka limestone quarry, whose relatively small area is home to numerous plant species, including rare and endangered species. Above the route near Bílá Voda, the Kraví Rocks are used by mountain climbers.

Paths and routes

The marked cycle route 6044 is 37 km long and leads from Bílá Voda via Růženec and Javorník through the Račí Valley to Uhelná and Vlčice, continuing to Hraničky. The Silesia Trail reaches Bílá Voda via the border ridge of the Rychlebské Mountains and continues from there to Javorník and Vidnava.
