Píšť: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Píšť reveals its cultural and spiritual side at the Church of Saint Lawrence: it was built in 1743, houses Baroque statues of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, and was established in 2002 as a Marian pilgrimage site for prayers for peace and reconciliation between peoples. This pilgrimage site includes a Way of the Cross completed in 2003, featuring ceramic reliefs, and a Lourdes grotto.

Culture and history

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk is an octagonal cultural monument dating from the late 19th century. Inside it is a sandstone statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from the 18th century.

The park sundial in Píšť measures 16 × 47 metres. When it was created in July 2005, it was the largest sundial of its kind in Europe.

Events and summer

Every year in August, Píšť hosts the pilgrimage to Saint Lawrence, known as the “Píšťský odpust”. Several other pilgrimage events also take place during the week around 10 August.

Píšť has a local outdoor swimming pool and a local mini-golf course, which are used in summer. Every year, the mini-golf course near the outdoor pool hosts an international mini-golf tournament as part of Czech-Polish cross-border cooperation.

Geographical location and nature

Píšť has an international border crossing to Owsiszcze. In the vicinity of Píšť, the Hranečník natural monument protects a colony of grey herons (Ardea cinerea), which are rare in northern Moravia.
