Radschitz: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
From Draha, locally known as Bučka, there are views of the Krkonoše Mountains and part of the Jizera Mountains, as well as Kozákov and Suché skály.
Landscape and Geology
The Radčice–Jirkov–Jílové geological locality includes a group of abandoned, overgrown and partially flooded quarries for roofing slate. The age of the slate-bearing rocks in this locality is estimated at 470 to 480 million years. Small ponds were left behind after the former quarries and often serve as natural swimming spots in summer.
History and Stonecraft
The first written mention of Radčice dates from 1543. Roofing slate quarried in Radčice was used, among other things, for roofing historic buildings throughout Bohemia. The village’s oldest log cabins are also notable architectural features: they were arranged in a horseshoe shape.
Within the geological locality, the Tlukačka quarry is one of the sites where trace fossils, mollusc fossils and trilobites have been found.
Hiking Route and Excursions
The important Černostudniční hřeben tourist hiking route passes through Radčice. It leads from Berany at the foot of the Jizera Mountains through Radčice towards Kozákov, the highest peak of the Bohemian Paradise. In summer and winter, Radčice is a starting point for many excursions.
