Olešnice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Olešnice combines notable cultural landmarks with paths through a varied landscape. The village is home to the Baroque statue of Panny Marie Bozkovské, which is considered an important cultural monument. Half-timbered house no. 16 is an example of the folk architecture of the Pojizeří region and features a carved, four-tiered gable finial.

Paths and Landscape

A hilly forest with sandstone rocks is located in the northern part of the Olešnice municipal area. A yellow-marked hiking trail runs through the north of Olešnice from Všeň towards Valdštejn and passes the Chlum-Kozlov ruins. The Chlum-Kozlov ruins can be reached on foot from Všeň or from Valdštejn Castle via the yellow-marked hiking trail.

Two cycling routes also pass through the area: Cycling Route 4012 runs along the Pohoří ridge from Všeň to Kacanovy. The blue-marked Cycling Route 4009 leads from Kacanovy past the southern edge of Olešnice and continues via Mlýnice and Žehrov.

The Vústra nature reserve is freely accessible; a marked hiking trail runs near its western boundary.

Culture and History

Kozlov Castle, also known as Chlum, was built either at the end of the 13th century or at the beginning of the 14th century and was first documented in 1362. The structure, located in the cadastral area of Olešnice, stands in an area with archaeological finds.

Valdštejn Church is located in the immediate vicinity of Olešnice. The Doubrava hill [Olešnice u Turnova] and the Vyhlídka na Bezděz hill [Olešnice u Turnova] are also nearby. The Střelečská hůra mountain is located in the surroundings of Olešnice. The Přivýšina mountain is located in the wider regional surroundings of Olešnice.

Getting There

Bus connections are available on the Turnov–Vyskeř route; during the tourism season, tourist bike buses also run to Olešnice.
