Nová Ves U Chrastavy: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Nová Ves u Chrastavy is a place with several clearly distinguishable aspects: sacred architectural history, historical traces, landscape and regional connections.

Church and Historical Traces

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was built in 1616–1617. It contains a Renaissance baptismal font on a stone base with a Baroque wooden superstructure. Archaeological finds have been documented, or are expected based on well-founded assumptions, in the archaeological find area around the church.

Following its demolition after a fire in 1980, only remnants of the surrounding masonry remain from the former manor house of Nová Ves. The Stations of the Cross are also built into the wall of the former cemetery in Nová Ves. The stone wall surrounding the former cemetery in Nová Ves is protected as a cultural monument. Its stations feature Late Baroque or Rococo decoration, suggesting that they were probably created in the second half of the 18th century.

River and Mountains

The Jeřice River flows through Nová Ves and joins the Nisa in Chrastava. Nová Ves probably originated through the gradual settlement of the area along the Jeřice River.

In the immediate vicinity of Nová Ves are Kančí vrch and Ostrý, both mountains. The surrounding area of Nová Ves also includes Brdo and Rozsocha, which are likewise mountains.

The wider regional area around Nová Ves includes Czocha Castle – Zamek XIVw., the Kraftwerk Hagenwerder ruins and the Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity.

The sporting event “Železný muž a železná žena” was scheduled to take place at the Mlýnice Reservoir in Nová Ves on 10 August 2024.
