Mirova Pod Kozakovem: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Mírová pod Kozákovem, the sandstone rock area is part of the Český ráj Protected Landscape Area. Here, rock walls, caves, historic paths, and viewpoints come together.

Nature

The Klokočské skály Nature Reserve is a rock wall up to 60 metres thick, formed from Paleozoic sandstones and containing numerous cave niches. Weathering of less resistant sections of rock and other geomorphological processes have created caves, rock gates, tunnels, mushroom rocks, and rock towers in Klokočské skály.

The Postojna–Amerika Cave is the only accessible cave in Klokočské skály. It remains closed in winter during the bats’ breeding season.

History

Rotštejn Castle is a castle ruin built partly from masonry and partly carved into a block of four sandstone rocks. Since 1998, Rotštejn has gradually been opened to the public; the first full tourist season began in 2004.

The Klokočské průchody are 70-metre-long rock steps that have been part of a trade route since the Middle Ages.

Parking is available in Loktuše in the municipality of Mírová pod Kozákovem. From there, the Rotštejn Castle ruin can be reached via a yellow-marked hiking trail of approximately 1.5 kilometres.

Viewpoints

Zdenčina skála is a ten-metre-high viewpoint on the edge of the rock area. Access is via steps carved into the rock; from there, the view extends into the Jizera valley.

Dubecko Lookout Tower has a covered viewing platform at a height of 33 metres, offering wide views across the Český ráj landscape. In favourable weather, the lookout tower is accessible year-round. The key for entry can be borrowed against a deposit from Mr Lejsek at Dubecko No. 6, approximately 150 metres from the lookout tower.

Activities

Mírová pod Kozákovem has a small ski slope. There are also water basins suitable for swimming.
