Mimoň: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Mimoň combines an engaging urban history with paths along the water, distinctive mountains in the surrounding area and special collections. Between the museum, the listed park and a variety of activities, the town presents a diverse picture.

Culture and history

The Městské muzeum is housed in a reconstructed historic building that originally served as a hospital. The permanent exhibition focuses on the history and nature of Mimoň and its surroundings; the museum also preserves a mortuary in its original condition. The grounds of the Městské muzeum also contain a Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk.

Another facet of the local past is presented by the Mimoňské Retromuzeum. It displays old prams and historic children's items such as dolls, swaddling cloths, rattles, toys, baby clothes and cradles. The museum also preserves memories of former companies from Mimoň, including TON, Severka, Rukavičářské závody and OPMP.

The Catholic Church of Saints Peter and Paul has an observation tower. Popular traditional events include Christmas and Easter climbs up the tower of the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Mimoň.

Townscape and landscape

Zámecký park is located in the centre of Mimoň and is a protected historical monument. Kamenický vrch, a mountain, lies in the immediate vicinity of Mimoň. The Kaple Nejsvětější Trojice, a church, is also located nearby.

The mountains Malá Buková, Velká Buková and Špičák are located in the surroundings of Mimoň. In the wider regional area around Mimoň lies Starý Berštejn, a ruin.

Routes and experiences

The CV16 Mimoň–Zákupy–Mimoň cycling route is offered in variants of 39, 29 and 20 kilometres. On the paddling route on the Ploučnice, a regulated riverbed with several steps begins shortly before Mimoň.

The Stezka po stopách středověku trail leads from the “Městské muzeum” information board along the Ploučnice to the Mimoň leisure centre. The adventure trail is about three kilometres long and includes 13 stations.
